What the contract review checks under Finnish law
When the Word add-in reviews a contract governed by Finnish law, the model is given these jurisdiction notes, quoted here exactly as the product uses them:
Key references: Oikeustoimilaki (the Legal Transactions Act), particularly the §36 adjustment of unreasonable contract terms, and Kauppalaki / Kuluttajansuojalaki for sales and consumer rules. Kuluttajansuojalaki imposes strict pre-contract information duties and makes consumer-disadvantageous deviations unenforceable. Finnish contracts are typically short and technical; do NOT flag the absence of US-style recitals or definitions as a defect. EU consumer and data-protection law applies alongside the domestic regime.
The notes steer what the review looks for. They are not a complete statement of the law, and the model still has to read the contract.
Measured quality
Attorly has not published a benchmark for Finnish law yet. The published benchmarks cover Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany, so there is no measured accuracy figure for Finland to rely on.
Who it fits, and who it does not
Best for:
- Reviewing and drafting contracts governed by Finnish law, with context for its legal tradition and default drafting language.
- Research questions answered from Finlex, with citations to the sources each answer relies on.
- Cross-border work that also turns on EU law, which research reads from EUR-Lex alongside the national sources.
Not the best fit for:
- Buyers who need a published accuracy figure for Finnish law before they start: none is published yet.
- Decisions that need a lawyer’s sign-off. Attorly gives legal information, not legal advice; a qualified lawyer should check anything you rely on.
