Short answer
Ironclad and Attorly do different jobs: Ironclad routes contracts through approvals, signature and a repository; Attorly analyses, drafts and researches. You can move executed contracts into Attorly’s contracts register, which extracts counterparty, dates, renewal and notice periods, but Attorly has no approval routing or e-signature, so teams that rely on those should keep Ironclad.
What you can bring over
| What | How | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Contracts and other documents | Upload PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, spreadsheets, slides or scans, up to 10 MB each. On Enterprise, import from Box, Dropbox, iManage, NetDocuments or Intralinks into a due diligence case. | Files are re-analysed in Attorly; earlier analyses from another tool are not imported. |
| Your negotiation playbook | Upload the playbook file (DOCX, DOC, PDF, XLSX, XLS, TXT) to Playbook Studio, or derive one from 3 to 10 contracts you signed. | Pro or Enterprise. You review every ladder before it is saved. |
| Templates | Paste each template into the template editor and mark its variables. Firm details can be stored once as standard variables. | There is no bulk template importer. |
| Clauses | Add approved clauses to the clause library one by one, with fallback wording. | There is no bulk clause importer. |
What does not come over
- Chat history, prompts and saved answers from your current tool.
- Analyses, risk scores or extracted fields produced by another product.
- User accounts and permissions. Invite your team again; on Enterprise, SSO and SCIM provisioning create accounts from your identity provider.
Steps
Start a trial on the plan you need
Pro for custom playbooks, the MCP server and up to 10 members; Enterprise for due diligence with Tabular Review, connectors, SSO and SCIM. Every plan starts with a 7-day trial.
Bring your playbook first
Import your playbook file or derive one from signed contracts, then review the position ladders. Everything that follows is graded against it.
Run real contracts side by side
Upload contracts you have already reviewed in your current tool and compare the redlines and flags before you move live work.
Move templates and clauses you use weekly
Recreate the templates and approved clauses your team uses most. Leave the long tail until you need it.
Invite the team and install the add-ins
Invite colleagues, install the Word and Outlook add-ins, and on Enterprise connect your DMS or data room.
Keep Ironclad if
- Your contracts flow through approval chains, e-signature and CRM or ERP integrations that Ironclad runs.
- Legal operations measures contract cycle time and workflow inside the CLM.
- You need a REST API or webhooks; Attorly offers MCP access only.
Frequently asked questions

- Attorly extracts counterparty, effective and expiry dates, auto-renewal, renewal term and notice period from analysed contracts into its contracts register. It does not run approval workflows or collect signatures.
- Can we use Ironclad and Attorly together?
- Yes. A common split is Ironclad for routing and storage, Attorly for analysing contracts and drafting positions.
